Even Čović annoyed by Kurti's visit: Unthoughtful moves from Sarajevo

(Patria) - The session of the Council of Ministers of BiH has been scheduled for Monday, December 9, after the one scheduled for December 5 was cancelled. The reason for the cancellation of the session is the visit of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to BiH. Kurti was supposed to be one of the participants of the Western Balkans Leaders' Summit in Neum on December 4 and 5, but the Summit was cancelled due to the annulment of the tender for its organization. However, instead of Neum, Kurti came to Sarajevo, where he held a series of meetings with BiH officials and was the keynote speaker at a session of Krug 99 in the City Hall.

In addition to the fact that Kurti's visit annoyed officials from RS, who refused to attend the session of the Council of Ministers of BiH out of protest, the visit was also considered an "unthoughtful move from Sarajevo" by the president of HDZ, Dragan Čović.

“We were supposed to have urgent sessions of the Council of Ministers of BiH, but due to certain unthoughtful, I would say, political moves that we have drawn into Sarajevo, or rather into FBiH, we have agreed to let the situation calm down a bit. I believe that the Council of Ministers will adopt these two key laws (Law on Border Control and Law on Personal Data Protection, editor's note) on Monday and move forward with operational plans", said the head of HDZ.

He announced that an urgent session of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly should be held on December 11, and it is expected that the House of Representatives will also convene urgently. There is still no announcement of sessions on the website of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

“If we manage to adopt these two laws through these urgent sessions before the 12th, which was some imagined timeframe, I believe that the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH can go to Brussels and negotiate the next step with the new Commissioner for EU Enlargement", said Čović.

He also had a message for all "external partners", clearly referring to the High Representative Christian Schmidt, who invoked his Bonn Powers and imposed a decision on seven institutions of state importance, especially concerning the resolution of the issue of managing the National and University Library of BiH, which has been without a director for months and was forced to cease operations, with employees without salaries.

“I call on all external partners who wish us well to let the democratic process resolve any issue on the table, through parliamentary majorities. To sometimes invite the opposition to support us because these are such topics, for these friends from outside to encourage us to make decisions, and never to try to represent the positions of one, the other, or the third nation, or BiH, in our name, while at the same time asking us to open the European perspective. Who will believe in our ability to enter the negotiation process when someone makes key, strategic decisions for BiH in our name", said the optimistic Čović.
