Although he can practically only be the director of the Federal Police Administration for another 13 days, based on the Decision signed by the Municipal Court Sarajevo judge Aida Hasić, Dragan Lukač and his political mentors, led by the new Minister of Internal Affairs of FBiH Aljoša Čampara, are not giving up on returning him to the director's chair at all costs, writes the Patria news agency.
According to the records of the PIO/MIO Fund, Lukač will have a full 40 years of service as of April 1 (excluding the period he erased in 2002), so he will have to retire.
Although the SDA faction led by Čampara is fighting tooth and nail to have their man in this extremely important position, as the Minister of Internal Affairs in the Federation has no authority when it comes to operations, Patria has learned that Dragan Čović and Željko Komšić are also interested in the position of FUP director.
Given that since 2002, when the position of police director was established, thus separating political and police-operational responsibilities, the minister has always come from one nation (party), and the director from another, both HDZ BiH and the Democratic Front are also fighting to appoint their own cadre.
Čović's favorite is Robert Perić, while Komšić's is Zlatko Miletić.
Robert Perić is currently the head of the Southern Regional Office of the BiH Border Police.
Perić was already a candidate for FUP director. He applied for the last competition, where only Lukač met the conditions among all applicants.
Zlatko Miletić is an experienced police officer. He served as the director of the Federal Police Administration for two terms, from 2002-2006 and from 2006-2010.
