Huskić: Our goal is for Tešanj to be regionally recognized and competitive

We want to be regionally recognized and competitive. Our goal is regional connectivity. For this, we need further prerequisites of political and all other regional stability, primarily economic and social, stated, among other things, Suad Huskić, Mayor of the Municipality of Tešanj, participating in the fifth Business plus conference held last week under the motto “Economy Builds Bridges” in Mostar, reports the Patria News Agency.

This is a regional project that brings together businessmen from six countries in the region, initiated by six media houses.

Speaking on the panel “Stability Strengthens Competitiveness,” Huskić, in response to the question of whether the state is a sum of individual successes, said that Tešanj is precisely a positive example.

It is about a recognizable economy whose export growth was 89% in the last four years, and it exports to 60 countries worldwide. A strong increase in the number of employees was also recorded, by 50% compared to the pre-war period, and by 15% in the last two years, and there are investments from EU countries.

There is also a very strong entrepreneurial spirit, as every fifth employee is a private entrepreneur, etc. From such an environment, acquisitions of Tešanj companies by other cities in BiH occurred, such as the acquisitions of Vispak from Visoko, Klas from Sarajevo, Borac from Travnik, Bosanka from Doboj, etc.

Precisely, the local success of Tešanj, and the strong development of Tešanj's economy and companies from Tešanj, directly enabled first the rescue, and then the development of companies throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In his presentation, Huskić explained the basic prerequisites for achieving success, highlighting two key moments: the political stability of the local community, as well as the public-private dialogue that took place to the satisfaction of citizens, administration, and domestic and foreign investors.

All of this, however, was preceded by fundamental changes within the municipal administration that enabled development, namely organizational, technological, and sociological changes reflected in the change of the psychology of “dependency,” but also in the philosophy and culture of work.

Because of all this, Huskić concluded, the future in Tešanj is seen in regional connectivity, because it is precisely in regional frameworks that we can become recognized as a partner for the future and prove our competitiveness, from which not only Bosnia and Herzegovina but the entire region can benefit.

Of course, as a prerequisite, political and all other regional stability must come to the forefront, in an interdependent space like ours, stated, among other things, Suad Huskić, Mayor of the Municipality of Tešanj.
