Hooligans Again Vandalize City Mosque in Zvornik

Hooligans wrote offensive messages on the Begsuja city mosque in Zvornik, which disturbed Bosniaks from this town in eastern Bosnia on Sunday morning, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).
On the fence of the city mosque, the term „balije“ appeared, which is an offensive label for Bosniaks.

The president of the Islamic Community Council in Zvornik, Mustafa ef. Muharemović, earlier told the Patria agency that intolerance towards Bosniaks, as was felt just a few years ago, is not present in Zvornik, but unfortunately, even today, from time to time, hooligans are found who desecrate Bosniak religious buildings.

During the Serbian aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1992, about 2,300 Bosniaks were killed in the Zvornik municipality area. The bodies of about 560 of them have not yet been found. A large number of mass graves have also been discovered in the Zvornik area, containing the bodies of killed Srebrenica victims.

For the crimes in Zvornik, dozens of cases are currently open before domestic and international courts. Local Serbs are being tried, as well as criminals who came to Zvornik from neighboring Serbia.

At the beginning of this year, an 81-year-old returnee was killed in the yard of a house in Kozluk near Zvornik; three years earlier, a Bosniak heading for Eid prayer was attacked and seriously injured.

The police are working to identify the hooligans who desecrated the city mosque in Zvornik over the weekend, writes Patria.
