Hooligans Attack and Seriously Injure Railways of FBiH Worker

A group of hooligans attacked Z.I. (56), an official of the Railways of FBiH - a train dispatcher at Sarajevo railway station on duty, and inflicted serious bodily injuries on him, reports the Patria agency.

Namely, a group of five hooligans on August 26, 2017, at 3:55 a.m., were spraying graffiti on the side of a local train on the Sarajevo-Zenica route, which was placed on the First Platform of the Main Railway Station in Sarajevo.

During the commission of this act of vandalism, they were spotted by train dispatcher Z.I., who intended to prevent the damage and protect railway property.

Four of them fled the scene, while the fifth, who was „keeping watch“, forcefully struck Z.I. in the chest area, inflicting serious bodily injuries and psychological trauma.

After the extraordinary incident, police and an ambulance were immediately called, which provided medical care to the injured worker and referred him for further treatment.

Due to the investigation, the train was delayed by 70 minutes, causing additional material damage to passengers and the Railways of FBiH.

The management of the Railways of FBiH expresses gratitude to its worker Z.I. for his dedicated and committed work and wishes him a swift and successful recovery.

- Unfortunately, this is not the first case of attacks on railway workers and property of the Railways of FBiH. We appeal to police and judicial authorities to most severely sanction the perpetrators of these and similar attacks on the staff and property of the Railways of FBiH. Ultimately, human life is priceless - stated the Railways of FBiH.
