HS BiH: Vatican gives diplomatic lesson to Dragan Čović

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Croatian Party of BiH welcomes the visit of the three members of the BiH Presidency to the Vatican, but considers that the Chairman of the BiH Presidency Dragan Čović inappropriately used the reception of the Presidency members by the Holy Father Pope Francis, during which he undiplomatically spoke about the Election Law of BiH.

- That was a major political gaffe. The underestimation of Vatican diplomacy and the disregard for the authority of Pope Francis, a great and proven friend of BiH, by a statesman is incomprehensible, through unnecessary exhaustion over an inflated internal political issue, which is nowhere near as important as the dimension given to it by the Croatian member of the BiH Presidency and leader of HDZ BiH.

The intention was clearly to perfidiously exploit the Holy Father's goodwill towards BiH and its peoples and citizens, and to drag him into a polemic about internal relations in BiH, all for the sake of personal electoral interests and miserable political profiteering.

The Chairman of the BiH Presidency Dragan Čović received a diplomatic lesson and an appropriate response. The Holy See will not interfere in the internal affairs of BiH, and Pope Francis called on his guests to make efforts to stop the mass exodus of young people from BiH - states the press release of the Croatian Party of BiH.
