(Patria) - Ivan Šimonović, Croatia's ambassador to the UN, stated during his address at the UN Security Council session that the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Željko Komšić, was not legitimately elected to that position.
- Regarding Mr. Komšić's presence at today's meeting and his conclusions, I wish to point out that the Republic of Croatia does not recognize him as a legitimate member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina - he said, adding that he came to that position through ethnic engineering.
He emphasized that he hopes the amendments to the Election Law will prevent such manipulations in the future.
The BiH ambassador to the UN, Zlatko Lagumdžija, reacted quickly, asking the Chinese ambassador, who was presiding, for the floor, although it was not planned.
- I consider it inappropriate for my colleague from Croatia to call the Chairman of the Presidency of my country illegal and illegitimate - said Lagumdžija.
