Croats do not want the euro

A large majority of surveyed Croats do not want the introduction of the euro and believe that the Greeks are solely to blame for the economic crisis they are in, reports the Patria News Agency.

In the "Promocije plus" survey, 60 percent of respondents oppose the introduction of the euro, while only 29 percent of those surveyed desire the European currency. Respondents mostly want the kuna to remain the Croatian currency - temporarily or secretly.

Croatian citizens are optimistic about the future of the EU and a large portion of them believe that the EU will survive the Greek crisis - 73 percent. Slightly more than seven percent believe that the chances of the EU's collapse and survival are equal, while eight percent of respondents assess that the Union will not recover from the Greek tragedy.

Croats mostly blame the Greek governments for the situation Greece finds itself in, while 13 percent consider the EU, the European Commission, and the IMF responsible.

The current Greek government, led by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, is blamed by 9.9 percent of respondents, and foreign creditors by slightly more than six percent.
