Hota-Muminović again calls Sivro a violent unionist, tells education workers they are causing damage with the strike

(Patria) - Regarding the initiation and conduct of an illegal strike in primary schools of Sarajevo Canton, Minister of Education Naida Hota-Muminović sent messages to parents - guardians of students and education workers.

In the message to parents - guardians of students, she expressed that she fully understands their concern, as well as the many questions for which they seek answers, due to the start of the strike in primary schools.

„I understand that the current circumstances are disturbing for your children and for you. I take this opportunity to tell you, as before, that the rights and interests of children will be imperative, based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is an integral part of the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and children's rights take precedence over the rights of adults. We believe that the reasons for initiating the strike are unfounded, and the strike itself is illegal.

I assure you that the Ministry, through the Office of the Ombudsman of Sarajevo Canton, has initiated legal mechanisms and we are asking the court to declare this strike illegal, as well as to suspend it, in order to ensure the rule of law and a sense of trust in the institutions of the system.

We call on you for patience and joint action because children's rights are above all other rights, and children must not be victims of manipulation by adults“, said Minister Hota - Muminović.

The message to education workers, colleagues, Minister Hota – Muminović began by recalling how in the past three years she has made great efforts to improve conditions in all schools, and added:

„These are multi-million investments in school infrastructure, in programs and content, in professional development, as well as in increasing salaries for workers in education. This is visible and measurable and cannot be denied.

I know that many of you have been under pressure and that you are afraid that you might fall out of favor with the violent unionist. I assure you that in the coming period we will work on building an education system based on meritocracy. Through regulations, we will prevent any individual from being able to decide your fates and, according to their own assessment, reward the obedient and punish the disobedient.

I call on you to put the interests of students first and to approach the remediation of the damage caused by this strike“.
