Will the Council of Ministers today accept Mektić's proposal that Stanić be the director of SIPA

At today's session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Proposal for a Decision on the appointment of the director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), submitted by the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić, will be on the agenda, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Minister Mektić forwarded the name of Perica Stanić to the Council of Ministers, even though he was third on the list of five names compiled by the Independent Board of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Incidentally, Stanić and Mektić are also connected by godparent ties, as well as their birthplace of Prnjavor.

Stanić began his police career as an assistant commander of the police station in Prnjavor. He was later appointed a criminal inspector, and then commander of the Public Security Station Prnjavor. After that, he moved to the position of deputy chief of the Public Security Center Banja Luka, then chief inspector in the Police Administration, and is currently serving as an advisor to the director of the Republika Srpska Police.

Stanić was also a member of the Police Board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, actively participated in the process of police reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and was the leader of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska team in the police reform negotiations during 2006.
