Will the National Taekwondo Championship in Zvornik be held on March 22? Security situation assessment awaited

(Patria) - The current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina has prompted numerous taekwondo clubs, competitors, and parents of athletes to reconsider the holding of the National Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina for cadets, juniors, and seniors, which is scheduled to take place on March 22 in Zvornik.

Due to the security situation, the Taekwondo Federation of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has received a large number of inquiries closely related to the holding of the National Championship, which is less than ten days away.

On this occasion, Samir Šarić, President of the Taekwondo Federation of FBiH, also spoke out.

- We closely and daily monitor the situation in our homeland, and we are in contact with security agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, all with the aim of obtaining information on whether there are security threats in the event of holding the National Championship in Zvornik - Šarić emphasized.

Information arriving from the Taekwondo Federation of FBiH indicates that the current situation is stable and that postponing the National Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina is not planned.

- The Taekwondo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will send a letter to the organizer, the Taekwondo Club Zvornik, from whom we will request a statement regarding the security situation concerning the holding of the National Championship - said Šarić, who is also a member of the presidency of the Taekwondo Federation of BiH.

Šarić stated that it is evident that all sports activities in the entity of Republika Srpska are being held daily, and he called on everyone for calm and restraint from any incidents.

- It would certainly not be in our favor to be the first sport to make a move that would trigger an avalanche of wrong steps in sports in Bosnia and Herzegovina - added the head of the TKDS FBiH.

From the Federal Federation, they say that despite monitoring the situation, if it is assessed that the National Championship cannot be held, it will be postponed to another date.

- On this occasion, we appeal to coaches to register their athletes and to hold the Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina as befits true athletes - said Šarić, who finally emphasized that he will personally attend the tournament in Zvornik.
