HNV BiH: Resolution on Srebrenica is a civilizational issue

(Patria) - The Croatian National Council (HNV) of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a statement regarding the adoption of the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica by the UN General Assembly today.

"Support for the adoption of the UN Resolution on Srebrenica represents an important step forward in the process of international commemoration of the genocide committed in Srebrenica in 1995 in front of the eyes of the whole world.

Furthermore, this is an acknowledgment to the families of the survivors that their three-decade-long efforts, in which they bore witness to the truth despite systemic attempts at discreditation and dehumanization, were not in vain.

The adopted Resolution on Srebrenica is not, and must not be, a subject around which tensions are raised, because the right and freedom of survivors to speak about their experiences, which have been revealed and testified through the verdicts of relevant courts, must not be misused and directed towards further dehumanization of the survivors.

We call on the authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially those in the entity of Republika Srpska, to face reality and finally embark on the process of normalizing relations, confronting the past, and building peace.

We pay tribute and express gratitude to the diplomatic mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN, as well as to the leadership of the Srebrenica Memorial Center, for the risky efforts invested to bear witness to the truth about the genocide in Srebrenica in this manner.

We remain loyal allies in building the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, peace, and stability within it, and we regret the silence of all those who are trying to observe this process from the sidelines and sleep through it. This is a civilizational issue and requires a clear stance," stated the HNV BiH.
