Urgent adoption of rules for elections in Brčko District

Although state laws must apply to all citizens of a country under the same conditions, citizens of Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina are in a completely unequal position compared to other citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina!, announced the Party for BiH, reports Patria. 

The discriminatory provision of the Law on Identity Cards, (which requires re-examination), which imposes on them the obligation to choose entity citizenship, shows the entire perversity of its existence and requires urgent intervention by the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina (PIC), the Central Election Commission of BiH and other domestic authorities and the international community.

If the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina does not adopt additional rules for the upcoming elections in Brčko District of BiH, approximately 40,000 citizens of Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who for various reasons do not have the designation of chosen entity citizenship entered in their identity card or do not have a decision on entity citizenship, will be denied the right to vote in the General Elections 2014.!

With such legal solutions, Bosnia and Herzegovina shows that it is not ready for the European family, and that such solutions must be urgently changed, and the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina must urgently resolve this situation and adopt additional rules for the citizens of Brčko District of BiH.
