Urgent meeting in the Government of Sarajevo Canton due to gas and fuel oil crisis, citizens already buying heaters

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - An urgent meeting will be held today in the Government of Sarajevo Canton regarding the problem of gas shortage, which forced Toplane-Sarajevo to switch to alternative fuels. However, from Toplane they stated that they do not have enough fuel oil because they had previously used alternatives on two occasions when gas reductions also occurred.

The President of the NiP party, Elmedin Konaković, said last night that some friends are ready to get involved, without specifying what it is about, but it is assumed that it could be an oil company that will sell fuel oil to Toplane.

Toplane-Sarajevo heats around 53,000 residential and commercial buildings, and yesterday their boiler rooms were shut down and switched to fuel oil. Due to the low temperature, many citizens, especially those with small children, have already bought heaters to warm themselves. Due to the gas shortage, many businesses have been unable to operate.

Energoinvest announced last night that they offered Sarajevogas and Toplane to procure a quantity of gas, but the price is four times higher than when purchased in advance. These two companies have not commented.

"The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina made some manipulations in the purchase of gas. Energoinvest is the most responsible, and why the suspension occurred. They say there is gas, but they did not say that it is available at six times higher prices. The Government of Sarajevo Canton must react urgently tomorrow. Certain suppliers have already made themselves available," Konaković said.
