1,000 KM one-time aid for every newborn child in FBiH

(Patria) - The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy has planned, and the FBiH Government has allocated 16 million KM in the Ministry's budget for the implementation of pro-natalist measures in 2024.

As announced by the Federal Minister of Labour and Social Policy Adnan Delić, this is a one-time support for mothers giving birth, which includes 1,000 KM for each newborn child in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This will also be the first time that support for mothers giving birth is planned at the level of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In addition, through regular current transfers to lower levels of government, i.e., cantons, the FBiH Government's budget provides a condition for all cantons to direct part of that transfer towards the implementation and support of pro-natalist policies, i.e., policies aimed at strengthening families.

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy has also planned funds in the 2024 budget for the preparation of feasibility studies for the Family Fund and the Social Protection Institute, as well as for the creation of a social map of FBiH, it was announced from this ministry.

On this occasion, Delić stated that 2024 is a budget year for the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, emphasizing that the Ministry's budget has been increased for items related to measures and programs aimed at improving and advancing the social protection system in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As he said, the Ministry has kept its promise regarding strengthening the capacities of social work centers, for which the Ministry's budget provides support in the total amount of 3 million KM.

- We have planned 1 million KM for social work centers as support for the application of federal regulations, i.e., covering costs for granting rights to non-war invalids, acquiring the status of a caregiver parent, approving the right to federal child allowance, and other regulations that come from our department.

Given that the facilities of social work centers are mostly in poor condition, for the first time in the budget, 2 million KM have also been planned for capital projects of these centers, which we hope they will delegate to us during this year - Delić stated.

The budget of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Policy includes an additional increase in funds allocated for the care of victims of domestic violence, so compared to last year's 500,000 KM, 1.5 million KM is planned for this year.

For non-war invalid benefits, 245 million KM is planned, for child allowances 130 million KM, 27 million for civilian war victims, and for caregiver parent benefits 29 million KM.

The draft budget of the FBiH Government was determined today at a Government session, and its adoption by both houses of the FBiH Parliament will follow.
