SARAJevo, (Patria) – Thousands of tourists welcomed the New Year in Sarajevo's main streets Ferhadija and Titova, with Hari Mata Hari.
The popular singer ushered in 2019 for Sarajevans and tourists with Kemal Monteno's song "Sarajevo ljubavi moja" (Sarajevo my love). The musical entertainment in front of the Eternal Flame in the city center officially began around 9 PM.
Strong police forces are present in Sarajevo, and the main roads near the gathering are closed.
The Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board previously announced that there are more tourists in Sarajevo than last year, and that Sarajevo will justify the slogan under which the New Year's content was promoted: "Sarajevo center of the region".
According to official statistical data available to the KS Tourist Board, in the first 11 months of this year, Sarajevo was visited by more than half a million tourists, and more than 1.1 million overnight stays were recorded.
