(Patria) - Helicopters of the Armed Forces of BiH, under difficult conditions and with superhuman efforts, extinguished a fire in the vicinity of Olovo.
This was announced on social networks by the Minister of Defence of BiH, Zukan Helez, who visited the fire site near Olovo last night. Helez stated that the fire threatened to endanger citizens' property.
"Immediately after receiving approval from the Presidency of BiH, helicopters of the Armed Forces of BiH were dispatched to the area of the municipality of Olovo for the purpose of extinguishing the fire.
Under extremely difficult conditions, without a secure water source, and with superhuman efforts by the pilots of the Armed Forces of BiH, this fire was extinguished this morning.
Two helicopters of the Armed Forces of BiH dropped 12,000 liters of water during three hours of flight.
The consequences that this fire would have left behind, without the engagement of the helicopters of the Armed Forces of BiH, would have been much more severe and devastating.
I congratulate the pilots of the Armed Forces of BiH on another successfully completed mission.
By extinguishing fires in the vicinity of Bugojno and Olovo, the Armed Forces of BiH have shown that they are capable of tackling forest fires.
Once again, I appeal to local communities that need helicopter assistance for firefighting to initiate the procedure for engaging helicopters of the Armed Forces of BiH.
Our helicopters are on standby and will be engaged upon receiving approval from the Presidency of BiH," Helez stated.
