Helez in Tomislavgrad: Paid tribute to murdered Bosniaks in Mokronoge

(Patria) - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Minister of Defence Zukan Helez, on June 21, 2024, recited Fatiha and laid flowers at the memorial to the murdered Bosniaks in the village of Mokronoge, municipality of Tomislavgrad.

„In early August 1993, nine civilians of Bosniak nationality, members of the Tiro and Đuliman families, were taken from their homes in Mokronoge and brutally murdered. The victims were young people and did not participate in any inter-ethnic conflicts. The only survivor was nine-year-old girl Amela Mujkić, whose parents, sisters, and brother were murdered. Amela Mujkić testified at the trial of Ivan Baković and Albert Topić, who were sentenced to 15 years in prison for these crimes,“ emphasized Minister Helez while paying tribute to the innocent victims.

Minister Helez expressed deep emotion due to this event, especially because he is personally connected to the murdered members of these families, and stated:

„May this never happen again to anyone.“
