Helez in Doha: The whole world is modernizing its armed forces, and BiH must too

(Patria) - The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, has concluded his visit to the three-day International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference DIMDEX 2024, held in Doha, State of Qatar.

Helez held an official meeting with the Head of the Military Production Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the State of Qatar, Brigadier General Salem Mohammed Al Marri. They discussed the development of cooperation with companies from the military industry from both entities of BiH.

- Here at the exhibition in Doha, where some of the world's biggest players in the military industry are present, we can see how the whole world is working on modernizing its armies. The security situation in the world and modern armed conflicts are such that we cannot lag behind in modernizing the Armed Forces of BiH either - said Minister Zukan Helez on this occasion, the Ministry of Defense of BiH announced.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, Minister Helez also met with the Bulgarian Minister of Defense Todor Tagarev, whom he invited to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina. Helez concluded his participation in the DIMDEX 2024 exhibition with a visit to the Qatari warship "Damsah" (F102) at Hamad Port, the largest port in the Middle East.

- BiH does not have a navy, but we have access to the sea, which we are extremely proud of, and which we will always protect - said Minister Helez in his address to the ship's crew.

The delegation of the MoD and AF BiH at the DIMDEX 2024 exhibition also included the Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH, Brigadier General Tomo Kolenda, the Deputy Commander of the Support Command of the AF BiH, Brigadier General Radovan Jović, Brigadiers Miljan Janković and Muharem Huremović from the Joint Staff of the AF BiH, as well as the Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of Defense of BiH, Salko Beba.
