Helez reacts to Vučić's lies: We did not hold Belgrade under siege for 1,425 days and shoot his citizens with sniper rifles from the hills

(Patria) - In the manner of the most unscrupulous dictators in the world, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić today staged a morbid public performance that was replete with lies, false equivalencies, and distortions of facts, believes BiH Minister of Defense Zukan Helez.

"While he is undermining Bosnia and Herzegovina and trying, through his subordinate, the illegal president of the Bosnian entity RS, Milorad Dodik, to annex part of our homeland and control processes in BiH, Vučić is simultaneously accusing, as he calls it, 'political Sarajevo' of trying to destroy Serbia.

The citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina did not commit genocide in any city in Serbia, our planes never bombed Belgrade, no elected official of ours ever shot at Belgrade citizens with a sniper rifle from the hills above Belgrade, we did not hold Belgrade under siege for 1,425 days, no one from Bosnia and Herzegovina crossed the Drina to wage war in Serbia," Helez stated on his Facebook profile.

He also adds that Vučić accuses 'political Sarajevo' of wanting war and slowing down Serbia's economic progress.

"The citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina have recently survived war, aggression, genocide, and siege. The citizens of BiH know what horrors war brings and certainly do not want it. Whoever wants war, may it be in their home.

It is much easier for the authorities in Serbia to shift the blame for the catastrophic economic situation in that country to others than to take responsibility.

I recently passed through the southern part of Serbia and was shocked by the condition of this part of our neighboring Serbia. I saw a bus on the road, the last one I saw in the movie 'Who's Singing Over There'. It's not a museum piece, but a bus operating a regular passenger transport line.

Over 100,000 pensioners in Serbia have a monthly pension of around 150 euros. For their monthly pension, a pensioner from Belgrade cannot even make a day trip to Sarajevo.

Sarajevo is not and cannot be responsible for the state of affairs in Serbia, but rather the criminal, nationalism-infused government in Serbia.

I must also mention the President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, who shamelessly invented the speech of Munira Subašić today and accused her of threatening Aleksandar Vučić's children.

Only a monster can lie to the mother of Srebrenica, who lost 22 of her loved ones. This only shows what the current ruling structure in Serbia is like and in which direction it operates.

I tell the citizens of Serbia that the citizens of Sarajevo, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, wish them all the best, primarily to fight for freedom and democracy in their country, pluralism in their society, European values, and economic prosperity in line with European standards.

I sincerely hope that fair and honest elections will soon be enabled in Serbia, that some new Zoran Đinđić will emerge, whom criminals/nationalists will not kill, and that the era of building Serbia on ideas of the superiority of one's own or the inferiority of other nations, ideas that insist on an ethnically homogeneous society, will end," Helez stated.
