Helez: I have preventively ordered increased security measures for commands, facilities, and warehouses of the Armed Forces of BiH

(Patria) - According to unofficial information, inspections of all AFBiH facilities and barracks are underway due to alleged threats, but there is still no official confirmation from the Ministry of Defence of BiH.

In the meantime, Defence Minister Zukan Helez spoke out.

"Unfortunately, we are witnessing an escalation of war events in the Middle East and Ukraine. In this regard, with potential reflections on Bosnia and Herzegovina, I have ordered the introduction of increased security measures for command facilities, units, facilities, and weapons and ammunition warehouses within the Armed Forces of BiH in order to protect personnel, facilities, and material resources of the Ministry of Defence of BiH and the Armed Forces of BiH.

These measures are preventive in nature and will remain in effect until further notice. Citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina should not fear; the security situation in our country is stable and there is no information or indication that it will be disrupted. The increased security measures apply exclusively to military facilities," Helez stated.

As Jelena Miovčić, spokesperson for SIPA, told N1, a letter has been sent to all police forces and companies dealing with weapons production to strengthen security measures.

"We are already acting on the order of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH. In previous days, there were bomb threats in shopping centres, the Presidency of BiH, Sarajevo International Airport… Now the premises of the Armed Forces of BiH were also targeted. We have this information. We are working exclusively on the order of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH," said Miovčić.

"We immediately informed the OSA, NATO, EUROPOL about the information we obtained. Colleagues are on the ground and working on the order of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH."
