Helez Calls on Colleagues in the BiH Council of Ministers to Dismiss Fugitive Zoran Galić

(Patria) - Minister of Defence of BiH Zukan Helez today appealed to the members of the First-Instance Medical Commission that, in case the Deputy Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency of BiH Zoran Galić submits another request for sick leave, they do their job professionally and in accordance with legal regulations.

He reminded that Galić has not come to work for more than 42 days, has been on the run since 9 July and is unavailable to the judicial authorities of BiH, and is suspected of organised crime, abuse of office or authority, and other criminal offences.

Helez pointed out that the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued an order on 8 August for a "central and international warrant" for Galić, who has so far justified his absence from work with sick leave.

He added that according to the current legal regulations in the Federation of BiH, a family medicine doctor can grant sick leave for up to 42 days, and anything beyond that can only be granted by the first-instance medical commission.

- I ask them to report any pressure, threats or blackmail, if they exist, to the competent police and judicial bodies in our country. I will request that the judicial authorities of our country examine in detail any possible approval of sick leave by the Medical Commission for the fugitive Zoran Galić. The Medical Commission will have to answer the question on the basis of which medical documentation they granted sick leave to a person they did not even examine - Helez said on Facebook.

He stressed that all these games around justifying absence from work for Zoran Galić are completely unnecessary and called on his fellow ministers in the BiH Council of Ministers to jointly convene a session and dismiss the fugitive Galić.

- That is the minimum we are obliged to do after his flight from the judicial authorities of our country. All citizens in our country must be equal before the law. It is unimaginable that a person who is fleeing the judicial authorities of our country holds any public office - Helez stated.
