Helez visits the Engineering Unit of the Armed Forces of BiH in Jablanica

(Patria) - Minister of Defence of BiH Zukan Helez today visited members of the Engineering Unit of the Armed Forces of BiH, who have been working for a month on remedying the consequences after the devastating floods in the municipality of Jablanica.

In a conversation with members of the Armed Forces of BiH, he learned about the challenges and difficulties in their work, the conditions for daily performance of very difficult tasks and effective use of all resources, and plans for further work.

- Members of the Engineering Unit of the Armed Forces of BiH were the first, six hours before others, to enter the most affected area of Jablanica and you are the only ones who have remained to help the affected population to this day.

Your dedication, courage and selflessness have been confirmed once again in action, here in Jablanica.

Always ready to help others when it is most needed, not sparing yourselves, you confirm the strength of the defence system of our country, and for that, a big thank you - with these words Helez addressed the members of the Engineering Unit.

In a conversation with residents of Donja Jablanica, he promised them that the engagement of the Armed Forces of BiH would be strengthened both in terms of personnel and machinery.

- Our Armed Forces will be in the affected areas until all residents return to their homes or are provided with housing.

The actions of the Armed Forces of BiH in the most affected areas of the municipalities of Jablanica, Konjic, Kiseljak, Fojnica and Kreševo have facilitated the continuation of life for the population of those regions.

The Armed Forces of BiH have gained enormous trust not only from the affected citizens but also from the whole of BiH; they are the true pride of the nation. I believe that in the media and public of BiH, the engagement and work of our members are often not recognised and appreciated - the minister believes.

The Mayor of Jablanica Municipality, Damir Šabanović, joined the delegation of the Ministry of Defence of BiH in Donja Jablanica.

He said that the members of the Armed Forces of BiH contributed the most to facilitating the further life of the population affected by the floods, and once again thanked for everything the Armed Forces of BiH do for their citizens.

The minister emphasised that the Armed Forces of BiH remain ready to provide assistance to the affected population and promised to financially reward all members of the Armed Forces of BiH who were and are still engaged in remedying the consequences of the floods.

After touring the flooded area in Donja Jablanica, representatives of the Ministry of Defence of BiH held a meeting with Mayor Šabanović.

In addition to Minister Helez, the Engineering Unit was also visited by the Assistant Minister for Policy and Plans, Dženan Redžo, and the Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of BiH for Resources, Major General Mirsad Ahmić.
