Helez: Armed Forces will remain in Jablanica for as long as necessary

(Patria) - Minister of Defense of BiH Zukan Helez visited Jablanica today, the municipality hardest hit by the catastrophic floods in our country.

Helez spoke with Mayor Damir Šabanović, other representatives of the municipal government, and citizens, offering them the full assistance of the Ministry of Defense of BiH and the Armed Forces of BiH.

"Members of the Armed Forces of BiH have been engaged in the area of Jablanica since early morning, rescuing civilians and their property, and assisting locals in removing the consequences of the floods.

Members of the Armed Forces of BiH were the first to respond, several hours before members of other rescue services, and they saved many lives.

A helicopter, engineering machinery, and infantry units of the BiH Armed Forces are involved in the rescue operation.

Unfortunately, the floods have also claimed lives. I extend my sincerest condolences to the families of the victims. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

For as long as necessary, the Armed Forces of BiH will remain in Jablanica and will assist the citizens of this municipality.

In addition to the engagement of the Armed Forces of BiH in Jablanica, we are also assisting in Konjic, Kiseljak, Fojnica, Breza, and all other areas affected by the floods.

The Council of Ministers of BiH will approve funds from the current reserve of the budget of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and BiH's international obligations to assist the population of the affected areas and is working on receiving international aid for the flooded municipalities.

All levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina will need to cooperate to remove the consequences of these catastrophic floods," Helez stated.
