Helez at the marking of the Armed Forces Day: BiH has an army that no one can shut down, humiliate, or divide

(Patria) - With a ceremonial academy and reception for state and international officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives of cultural, public, and religious life in BiH, as well as the highest officials of BiH's defense structures, the Day of the Armed Forces of BiH and the 20th anniversary of their formation were marked this evening at the House of the Armed Forces of BiH in Sarajevo.

Addressing the guests, the Minister of Defense of BiH, Zukan Helez, congratulated the 20th jubilee anniversary of the formation of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, an institution that has grown over two decades into one of the key pillars of peace, security, and statehood of our country.

Helez recalled the most important steps and achievements made in the past period, emphasizing the dedicated work and continuous progress of the defense system of Bosnia and Herzegovina.



He emphasized that twenty years of the Armed Forces of BiH is not just a chronology of dates and decisions, but a story of courage, trust, and faith in a common future.

- The formation of unified Armed Forces was the clearest proof that Bosnia and Herzegovina can, knows, and must live together - Helez stated.

The minister emphasized that it was a moment after the hardest years of war, when we decided to build a state on the foundations of trust, unity, and mutual respect.

- Twenty years later, the Armed Forces of BiH represent proof that a common state is possible and successful when we prioritize what unites us - the homeland, peace, and security of its citizens - Helez points out.

He adds that in a time of deep political crises and divisions, the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina have remained professional and above daily politics.

- While some tried to weaken and divide them, we built and strengthened them. The AF BiH have shown even in the most difficult moments that there are institutions that do not lose their compass, institutions that stand with the people and with the state - Helez stated.



He thanked international partners, NATO member states, the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, EUFOR, and all other friends for their long-term support in training, modernization, and capacity building.

Thanks to them, he continued, but above all thanks to the dedicated work of the members of the AF BiH, today the AF BiH meet the highest international standards.

The minister emphasized that the Armed Forces of BiH are ready to protect the territorial integrity, constitutionality, and security of our country.

- Although there are policies that try to diminish their importance through blockades and obstructions, it is clear that Bosnia and Herzegovina has an army that no one can shut down, humiliate, or divide. As long as there are people who believe in this country, the AF BiH will remain strong and proud - says Helez.

He stressed that the future of the AF BiH lies in modernization, education, and investment in people, because the greatest strength of the Armed Forces is not the weapon systems, but the women and men who proudly wear the uniform of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- Be proud of what you have achieved. Twenty years of your sacrifice, work, and professionalism are woven into the fabric of this country. May this anniversary be a reminder that we are stronger together, and unity is our greatest victory - Helez concluded.
