Helez: Ministers from the Serb people have been preventing July 11th from being a Day of Mourning in all of BiH for five years

(Patria) - The Council of Ministers of BiH did not reach a consensus in two rounds of voting today to adopt a decision declaring July 11th a Day of Mourning in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The decision was proposed by the Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Zukan Helez, who then made a statement on his Facebook profile.

"Today, I asked the Council of Ministers of BiH to declare July 11th (Thursday) a Day of Mourning throughout BiH, in memory of the victims of the genocide of July 11, 1995, in Srebrenica.

Unfortunately, the request, as in the previous five years, was not adopted. Ministers from the Serb people voted against it.

Due to the veto right of the Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Staša Košarac, this agenda item of today's session was not adopted during the decision-making process in the Council of Ministers of BiH.

It is regrettable that ministers from the Serb people in the Council of Ministers of BiH have been preventing the anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica from being commemorated peacefully and with dignity throughout BiH for the fifth consecutive year.

Although numerous perpetrators of the genocide and those who led the policy that led to it have been convicted, the established truth is still not accepted in the Bosnian Serb entity of RS, as well as in neighboring Serbia.

Denying genocide, relativizing war crimes, and glorifying war criminals will not change the truth established by the judgments of international courts about genocide, ethnic cleansing, and concentration camps.

With the adoption of the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica in the UN, the truth about this crime will be commemorated by many countries around the world, starting this year.

On Thursday, I will be in Srebrenica and, together with thousands of other patriots, representatives of international institutions, and friendly countries, I will recite Fatiha and pay tribute to the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica.

May Srebrenica never happen again to anyone," Helez stated.
