Helez: Bosnia and Herzegovina's Ministry of Defence will distribute election material, Goganović has no say!

(Patria) - Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zukan Helez stated for Faktor that a decision has been made and that the Ministry of Defence will use its vehicles to distribute election material for the upcoming Local Elections.

Helez emphasized that he, as minister, is the sole authority for providing assistance to the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina, adding that the CEC is not to blame for the inability to conduct the tender "because the institutions' budget was only adopted in the seventh month."

Assistance in conducting elections is his legal obligation, Helez added, "and these are my competencies."

- My deputy Goganović (Aleksandar, ed.) unnecessarily inserted himself. No one is asking him. This is exclusively my competence. The sectors of the Armed Forces have given a positive opinion. I am just waiting for the document, although I am not obliged to do so, but I want to respect procedures.

They give an opinion that does not bind me. I am waiting for the document and we will take action - said Helez.

He added that in the meantime he met with EUFOR commander László Sticz. He offered to help us, "but I think we can finish the job without EUFOR."

- Here, the same forces are always obstructing the implementation of the law. It is no coincidence that the budget was delayed. That was done intentionally. Representatives in BiH institutions from the RS blocked it, primarily the Minister of Finance, with the aim of stopping the elections and saying that the state does not function.

Deputy Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina Aleksandar Goganović stated that, in accordance with the function he performs, he will not support the request of the Central Election Commission (CEC) addressed to the Ministry of Defence to use its vehicles to distribute election material for the upcoming Local Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
