HDZ, Trojka and SNSD meet in Mostar: Who will give in to their demands?

(Patria) - HDZ BiH will host today's meeting of the presidents and representatives of the Trojka parties (SDP, NIP, Our Party) and SNSD, which make up the state government. Milorad Dodik will be in Montenegro before the meeting, so on his way back he will continue to Mostar, where the meeting of coalition partners begins at 3 PM.

The president of Our Party and Minister of Transport and Communications, Edin Forto, told reporters on Monday that the topics will be the Law on Courts, the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest, and the Election Law of BiH. The coalition has not yet reached an agreement on these two laws, and a point of contention is also the seat of the Appellate Division of the Court of BiH.

"The Election Law has three segments: the election of members of the Presidency, the election of members of the CEC, and the integrity of the electoral process. If you ask me, integrity is number one. If you ask someone else, something else will be important to them. If we come out with a good agreement that we can implement in an urgent procedure through the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, then we can hope for something on March 21 in Brussels," said Forto, alluding to the session of the European Council that should decide on the accession negotiations of BiH and the EU.

Interestingly, political parties have been clearly told by the international community not to touch the composition of the Central Election Commission and that the current members were elected in accordance with the law.

However, Elmedin Konaković also spoke about the election of CEC members, emphasizing that they have an agreement on the CEC.

On the other hand, the HDZ's demand for "legitimate representation" remains before the Trojka parties, while SNSD agrees with Dragan Čović's condition.

The US Embassy clearly emphasized that the Election Law of BiH cannot be changed in that sense without amending the Constitution of BiH. Only by changing the Constitution of BiH can the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights be implemented, and at this moment there is no two-thirds majority that would support constitutional changes.
