(Patria) - Federal delegate Mirnes Bašić (SDA) resigned his membership in the Joint Working Group of the Election and Appointment Commission in early July, and the letter of resignation was submitted to the Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Federation, Tomislav Martinović, Secretary Izmir Hadžiavdić, and the President of the Election and Appointment Commission of the House of Peoples, Milan Ševo.
"By being elected to the joint working group, I believed that all elected members could independently respond to the tasks within its jurisdiction. However, after the initial activities of the joint working group, certain interpretations and opinions of some 'legal experts' are being sought, and they are accepted, regardless of our clear legal regulations.
I am resigning solely due to my professional conviction that all tasks and jobs within the jurisdiction of the Joint Working Group of the Election and Appointment Commission can be performed independently, and not by using the influence of international legal experts here," Bašić stated.
According to Patria's information, the legal experts providing their opinions on certain issues are from the OHR.
Bašić did not want to participate in the work of this commission after seeing how things were functioning and that the other five members from the ruling parties formed a majority and could make decisions regardless of his opinion.
In early July, this Joint Working Group announced a call for applications for the election of members of the Independent Board, which, according to the law, elects the Director of the Federal Police Administration.
The remaining members of this commission are Aner Žuljević (SDP), Goran Opsenica (HDZ), Rasim Smajlović (NIP) from the House of Representatives of the PFBiH, while from the House of Peoples are Milan Ševo (HDZ), who is also the president, and Kristina Petrović (SDP).
This commission will conduct the procedure for electing members of the Management Board of RTV FBiH, and although the law stipulates that one member is elected annually, the commission has announced a call for four positions because the Management Board has been vacant for years. It is not known whether the 'OHR experts' provided their opinion on this specific call for applications, but what is known is the long-standing desire of HDZ BiH and Dragan Čović to enter the structures of Federal Television. Thus, among the names for the RTVFBiH Management Board member is Zoran Krešić from Večernji list, who is close to Čović and known for his nationalist outbursts and labeling Bosniaks as one of the constituent peoples in BiH.
This commission is also responsible for the election of the Citizens' Complaints Committee, the Program Council of RTV FBiH, and some other bodies for which calls for applications should be announced.
