HDZ losing patience: Accuse 'Bosniak' parties of jeopardising BiH's future with their moves

(Patria) - The Presidency of HDZ BiH held a session at the HDZ BiH headquarters in Mostar. The key political issue of electoral law reform and resolving the greatest post-Dayton political crisis was the focus of today's session.

"In circumstances where all Bosniak parties have explicitly left the negotiations on the reform process, today's session discussed the continuation of further steps. At today's session, the Presidency of HDZ BiH adopted the following conclusions.

1. We call on all political parties in BiH to assume political responsibility in a situation where their moves are jeopardising the future of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The urgent continuation of negotiations regarding amendments to the Electoral Law is a necessary prerequisite for the stabilisation and continuation of BiH's Euro-Atlantic path.
2. We thank the international partners USA/EU for their efforts in the negotiation process and encourage them to use a more proactive approach to prevent further blockades by Bosniak parties in the Federation. We consider that the presentation of maximalist demands and aspirations for radical changes to the Constitution, which are contrary to the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its Annex IV, enable further political destabilisation.
3. We condemn unitarist and separatist policies that undermine the continuation of political dialogue. The conflict between these two concepts, which is reaching its peak today, equally undermines the state of BiH and deepens divisions. The rhetoric of threats, fear and conflict they use is absolutely unacceptable and we strongly condemn it hereby.
4. The constituent status of the three peoples and their legitimate representation is the foundation of the Dayton-Paris Peace Agreement. Any attempts to derogate from the constituent status, which the Constitutional Court of BiH has designated as an overarching principle, as well as attacks on legitimate political representation, mean the destruction of the constitutional order of BiH and the Dayton Agreement. All anomalies of the political system reflected through discrimination and political majorisation must be removed and harmonised through the reform of electoral legislation, HDZ announced.
