HDZ BiH Dictates Wishlist: EU Path, Constitutional Judge Appointment, Election Law by Autumn

(Patria) - HDZ BiH, following today's meeting of leaders with the Executive Director for Europe at the European External Action Service (EEAS) Angelina Eichhorst, reiterates its unquestionable commitment to accelerating the EU path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and fulfilling the EU agenda.

Based on continuous efforts to accelerate the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the successful and coordinated implementation of reform processes aimed at long-term stabilization of internal relations and achievement of foreign policy priorities, HDZ BiH calls on political actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina to fully commit to implementing the 14 key priorities as soon as possible.

In light of the upcoming fifth Stabilisation and Association Council meeting between the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina, HDZ BiH appeals for the implementation of all necessary processes so that BiH achieves strong momentum on its integration path.

We welcome the initiative of the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto, to display the flag of the European Union in ministries, administrative organizations, and other bodies of the Council of Ministers of BiH, which will be on the agenda of the Council of Ministers on July 13, 2023.

HDZ BiH appeals for the urgent adoption, without delay, of the Law on Courts of Bosnia and
Herzegovina and the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest at the Council of Ministers of BiH and their submission to the parliamentary procedure, and for the urgent adoption of the Law on the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

HDZ BiH calls on the already established working groups, stemming from the government established after the General Elections held in October 2022, to work urgently on amending the Election Law of BiH and the issue of the Constitutional Court of BiH, emphasizing that the issue of the Election Law must be completed by autumn 2023 in order to fully ensure the constitutional rights of all three constituent peoples and remove existing inequalities and discrimination against all other citizens in BiH, especially in the Presidency of BiH.

As stated by HDZ, "instead of a Croat, for the fourth time, another Bosniak member of the Presidency has been elected."

HDZ BiH believes there is no justification for avoiding an agreement, which could affect the work of all institutions in BiH in the future.

At the same time, HDZ BiH calls for further work on the functionality of the Federation of BiH,
stabilization of the situation, and implementation of the established agreements of coalition partners, primarily the finalization of the appointment of a judge to the Constitutional Court from the Federation of BiH, which would enable the strengthening of the necessary trust.
