Malfunction in Banja Luka: Entire city without heating

There will be no heating in the entire city of Banja Luka today, except for the Starčevica settlement, due to urgent repairs of a malfunction on the heating pipeline, it was announced by the Banja Luka "Toplana", reports the Patria News Agency. 

"Toplana" is forced to undertake urgent repairs of the heating pipeline due to a major malfunction on a section of the main Vrbas heating pipeline, opposite the Rebrovac Church, which jeopardizes the functioning of the central district heating system," the statement from "Toplana" reads.

Due to the urgency of the work, the repairs will be carried out today, and there will be no heating in the entire city, except for the Starčevica settlement. In addition to this, a malfunction occurred in the installations of the old boiler plants, which will be rectified today.

"Toplana" states that they have started the work to fix the malfunction in the shortest possible period, given the high outside air temperatures, during which the supply of thermal energy is interrupted.

"Although we have rectified all identified malfunctions during the annual overhaul, new malfunctions are increasingly occurring on the distribution network, which is over 40 years old, and thus its service life has expired. Since the beginning of the season, we have had 35 pipeline malfunctions, while the European average is 17 during the entire heating season, which clearly indicates the condition of the distribution network," say "Toplana".

"Toplana" has asked consumers for understanding and stated that the workers will make maximum efforts to rectify the malfunction and thus ensure that the residents of Banja Luka have heating tomorrow morning.
