Hasan Salihamidžić elected as Sporting Director of the great Bayern

Hasan Salihamidžić has officially become the Sporting Director of Bayern, a club where he achieved world fame. The popular Brazzo was the first choice of Uli Hoeness, reports the Patria agency.

Bayern has scheduled a press conference for today at 5:15 PM where Salihamidžić's appointment will be officially announced, succeeding Matthias Sammer as Sporting Director.

Among the candidates for this responsible and demanding position at one of the world's biggest clubs were Oliver Kahn, Thomas Linke, and Mark van Bommel.

Salihamdžić played for Bayern from 1998 to 2007. During that period, he won six German championship titles, four DFB Pokals, and the Champions League in 2001. He enjoys a high reputation in Munich and is popular among the fans of the Bavarian giant.

Salihamidžić was born on January 1, 1977, in Jablanica, and began his career at Turbina Jablanica, from where he moved to Velež Mostar. At the beginning of the war, he moved to Germany, where he played for Hamburg, then for Bayern, Italian club Juventus, and Wolfsburg, where he ended his playing career in 2012. 

He played 42 matches for the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, scoring six goals.
