Hasan Nuhanović Still Has Not Received Compensation from the Netherlands for the Death of His Father and Brother

Hasan Nuhanović, former translator for the United Nations (UN) in Srebrenica, has still not received compensation from the Dutch government, which he is to claim from this country due to the death of his father and brother who were killed during the genocide in Srebrenica, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Although the final ruling of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands from last year confirmed the responsibility of the Netherlands for the death of Hasan Nuhanović's brother and father, as well as the death of another Srebrenica resident, Rizo Mustafić, the Netherlands has not paid Nuhanović a single mark in compensation to this day.

The ruling stated that the state of the Netherlands did not prevent the death of their loved ones while they were under the protection of Dutch troops as part of the United Nations peacekeeping forces in Srebrenica in July 1995.

- I have not received any compensation so far - Nuhanović confirmed to Patria.

- To be honest, I have no indication when that might happen. But, I hope it will be soon. I want to close that chapter in my life as soon as possible. Because, we in BiH have many more problems besides the Netherlands - said Nuhanović.

The amount offered by the Netherlands to Nuhanović as compensation for the death of his father and brother is negligible.

In addition to Nuhanović, a large number of other families who lost their loved ones during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e., Srebrenica, have also filed lawsuits against the Netherlands, writes Patria.
