Haris Tvrtković Not Forgotten: Gifts for 18th Birthday and Visit from Former Željezničar Player

Representatives of the City of Sarajevo, on behalf of Mayor Prof. Dr. Ivo Komšić, visited Haris Tvrtković in Vogošća, who is celebrating his 18th birthday today, reports the Patria news agency.

With sincere wishes for a speedy recovery, the mayor's advisor Mila Eminović delighted Haris with a suitable birthday gift. A delegation from the Stari Grad Municipality, led by Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, also joined in with congratulations and a gift.

Empathizing with his young fellow citizen and his family, Mayor Ivo Komšić also visited the boy last September and provided him with free use of the city's Olympic pool „Otoka“ for therapeutic purposes, as well as a one-time financial assistance from the City of Sarajevo.

Almost four years ago, while riding a bicycle, Haris was hit by a vehicle from the Emergency Medical Service of the Sarajevo Canton at an intersection in Vogošća, causing him severe and life-threatening bodily injuries. Despite assessments that Haris would not survive the next day, the boy lived. From that moment, an unwavering and determined struggle began for the boy's life and recovery, involving his parents and good people, which gives hope that Haris will walk again and regain his lost speech and damaged hearing.

Haris's parents, Sanela and Ševal Tvrtković, have financed all medical tests and treatments for the boy so far with their own funds, loans, dedication, and with the help of friends and good people from Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond.

Special joy for the boy came from the visit of Hadis Zubanović, a former player of FK „Željezničar“, the team Haris passionately supports.

At the end of the visit, the mayor's advisor Eminović expressed satisfaction that, despite the problems they face daily, people in Bosnia and Herzegovina show solidarity and are united in doing good, and that this should continue to be insisted upon, the City Administration announced.
