Haris Medunjanin ends football career

(Patria) - Former representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina Haris Medunjanin has ended his football career at the age of 39.

The Sarajevo-born player said "goodbye" to football in the jersey of Dutch Zwolle, with whom he secured promotion to the elite rank of Dutch football last season.

Haris also grew up in the Netherlands, where he started in the youth categories of AZ Alkmaar, and later played for Sparta Rotterdam on loan.

At the age of 23, he made a transfer from AZ to Valladolid, worth 450,000 euros, and just two years later, the Spanish club sold him to Maccabi Tel Aviv for 2 million euros, writes SCsport.ba.

Later, before the end of his career at Zwolle, Medunjanin also played for Gaziantep, Deportivo La Coruna, Philadelphia, and Cincinnati.

He left his deepest mark at Maccabi, for whom he scored 20 goals and provided 17 assists in 114 matches, and recorded 109 appearances for Philadelphia.

He played 60 times for the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina and scored nine goals.
