Muharemović apologises after red card: 'I take responsibility'

(Patria) - Brilliant Bosnian defender Tarik Muharemović issued an apology after the red card he received in the second round match of the World Cup against Switzerland.

Until the closing stages of the match, Muharemović was one of the best players of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. With solid defensive play, he repeatedly stopped Switzerland's attacks and appeared as one of the most stable links of the "Dragons".

However, in the final moments of the match, he received a straight red card after a foul in a situation where he was the last defender, significantly reducing Bosnia and Herzegovina's chances of a favourable result.

After the match, the Sassuolo centre-back took responsibility and apologised to his teammates, coaching staff and fans.

"I feel the need to apologise to everyone. First to my teammates and coaching staff, and then to the fans for the red card. I take full responsibility and I am sorry that I made it harder for the team," said Muharemović.

He added that the team must stay focused on the next match:

"The defeat hurts, but we have one more match and we can still achieve our dreams. We will give our best until the end. I believe in us and it will always be that way. Thank you for the messages and support, let's move forward together."
