Hari Mata Hari to open the sevdalinka festival 'Sarajevo Sevdah Soiree'

(Patria) - The third edition of the unique music event, the Sarajevo Sevdah Soiree festival, will be opened tonight by regional star Hari Varešanović – Hari Mata Hari. Under the open sky, on the Yellow Fortress, he will present his unique interpretation of the most popular sevdalinka songs to the audience, and he will also perform some of his own songs.

"I am delighted to be performing at the sevdah festival, in the part of the city where I was born, where I played, and I even started my career nearby, in Vratnik. I will approach the audience with my style of singing sevdah, which many love, and I hope that everyone who comes to my concert will like it too. I ask them not to be too critical, of course," Hari says with a laugh and adds:

"It will be a fusion of sevdah sound, symphonic sound, and Hari's voice. I will focus on sevdalinka songs, and from my repertoire, on a few songs that are in the sevdalinka style, like the song Lejla. I invite sevdah lovers to spend a warm night filled with beautiful emotions together on the Yellow Fortress. I hope we will enjoy it."

After Hari Varešanović's performance, on the second night, Sunday, August 17, the program features a concert by Naida Kraljić, a Sarajevo interpreter of sevdalinka and traditional music. Until the end of the festival, the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy performances by: Rafid Subašić, an excellent vocal interpreter and one of the best percussionists in the region with the accompaniment of Trio Veda (Wednesday, August 20), Maja Milinković, a well-known singer and songwriter, who will offer the audience a fusion of fado and sevdalinka (Thursday, August 21), while the festival will be closed by the brilliant Tonči Huljić and the band Madre Badessa, who bring a combination of Mediterranean melodies, pop, classical, and ethno sounds (Saturday, August 23).
