Hackers have published personal data of about 33 million users of the "adultery website" AshleyMadison.com, technology portals report, according to the Patria News Agency.
Avid Life Media (ALM), the owner of the website AshleyMadison.com, confirmed in July that hackers had breached security systems and that they were cooperating with authorities in finding the perpetrators who obtained an impressive amount of sensitive data about about 37 million users. The company believes the hacker had access to the internal network.
The hacker group "Impact Team" claimed responsibility for the attack, demanding that the owners of Ashley Madison shut down the website, threatening to publish the data.
"Shutting down AM (Ashley Madison) and EM (Established Men) will cost you, but refusing to do so will cost even more," the hackers said. Established Men is also a partner-finding website owned by Avid Life Media.
