Hahn: Form government at state and federal level

SARAJevo, (Patria) - I hope that political subjects in BiH will agree on priorities and I have asked the authorities to resolve some urgent issues, said the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn after a meeting with BiH political leaders.

Hahn told reporters that they have been waiting for the appointment of a contact person for EUROPOL from BiH for two years.

"Regarding migration, we have a certain number of migrants present in BiH, but we believe it is a manageable number. We will provide any support, but on the other hand, we need a clear structure of responsibilities between different levels of government, and we are facing confusion there," said Commissioner Hahn.

Commenting on the answers provided by the BiH authorities, Hahn said that the European Commission is working on preparing an opinion.

"There were more than three thousand questions, another 600 additional questions that came based on the initial answers, and 22 questions were not answered, which can be done additionally," explained Hahn.

"By the end of May, we will publish an opinion on this matter, and this has been stated very clearly by me, but on the condition that a government is formed, not only at the BiH level but also at the Federation of BiH level. We need a government that will continue to work on these issues," Hahn told the political representatives of BiH.

Hahn also commented on healthcare in our country, saying that BiH has the highest per capita spending in the region when it comes to the healthcare sector.

Regarding the possibility of BiH becoming a member of the World Trade Organization, Hahn says that this can happen when regulations on fuel quality are adopted.

"I am optimistic, but you know how it is in life, it takes two to tango. I can only confirm readiness and any form of support. The EU is perceived as a power that differs from others, and it may seem like we are constantly demanding something, but all we are doing is improving the quality of life for citizens in BiH and helping them stay in their country," Hahn told reporters in Sarajevo, reports the Patria agency.
