The Hague Accuses 20 People of Genocide in Srebrenica

The Hague Tribunal has indicted a total of 20 individuals for crimes committed in Srebrenica during July 1995. Among them is Radislav Krstić, the first person convicted of aiding and abetting the genocide committed in Srebrenica, and he was sentenced to 35 years in prison on April 19, 2004.

Proceedings against Ratko Mladić, Radovan Karadžić, Zdravko Tolimir, as well as Jovica Stanišić and Franko Simatović are still ongoing, reports the Patria News Agency.  

Since its establishment, the Hague Tribunal has indicted 161 individuals for serious violations of humanitarian law committed in the territory of the former Yugoslavia from 1991 to 2001. 

Proceedings against 146 individuals have been concluded. Proceedings are currently underway against 15 defendants, with four of them in the trial phase and 11 before the Appeals Chamber.
