Hadžiomerović for NAP: Judges in RS recalled from vacation to approve referendum

The head of the Bosniak Club in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Mujo Hadžiomerović, told the Patria News Agency that judges of the Constitutional Court of RS were intentionally called to interrupt their annual leave to approve the referendum on January 9th.

This, Hadžiomerović claims, best illustrates how much the Constitutional Court of RS is an extended arm of the policy led by the authorities in Republika Srpska.

- Such a thing is unacceptable, warns Hadžiomerović.  

The Constitutional Court of BiH declared January 9th, which is celebrated as the Day of RS, unconstitutional at the end of last year, but the authorities from Banja Luka do not wish to accept this decision. The National Assembly of RS made a decision for the citizens of the smaller BiH entity to vote on January 9th as the Day of RS in a referendum, which is scheduled for September 25th. The referendum is supported by both ruling and opposition parties. 

The referendum question should read: "Do you support January 9th being marked and celebrated as the Day of Republika Srpska?".

It is expected that the majority of Serbs from RS will support the marking of January 9th. 

The Bosniak Club in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska requested the protection of vital national interest before the Constitutional Court of RS, but the Court decided today that there was no violation of vital national interest.

- We actually expected such a decision – says Hadžiomerović.

- But, this is now an alarm that the international community must also get involved in this issue, because we are clearly witnessing a violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement. What would happen if Bosniaks also called a referendum now and refused to respect certain decisions of the courts in RS – points out Hadžiomerović, writes Patria.
