Hadžikadić on Bogićević's non-election, let everyone clean their own houses

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - I would like to thank Mr. Bogić Bogićević for teaching the public in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and especially political actors, an important lesson about morality, honor, and principledness, stated the president of the Platform for Progress, Mirsad Hadžikadić. 

The damage that such a moral and political figure is not at the head of our country's capital can only be mitigated by our acceptance of this lesson and a sincere commitment to henceforth conduct politics of integrity and a genuine fight for the state, the community, and the citizens we represent, instead of the politics of division, personal disputes, corruption, trading positions, and personal interests that we have witnessed for the past thirty years. 

Unfortunately, the media appearances of representatives of certain parties, who try to shift the responsibility for Mr. Bogićević's non-election to the party that had one councilor, instead of to the lack of cohesion of their 17 councilors and their party not being part of the coalition that proposed the candidate for the election of the president of the city council, show that they have not yet learned the lesson. It would be more honest to admit that all of us, the government and the opposition, must examine our real motives, goals, and mistakes and do everything to be worthy of our citizens' trust. Only then will we respect the life, work, and message of Mr. Bogić Bogićević. 

The Platform for Progress, in its previous statements and by initiating disciplinary proceedings against the councilor who voted against the signed promise, while not criticizing his right to protest nepotism, has shown that it understands the lesson Mr. Bogićević gave us and is ready to tackle its personnel shortcomings. On this occasion, I call on all parties to first clean up their own houses before accusing the neighbor of his mess, even where there is none. Only in this way can we achieve a better neighborhood."
