Hadžić: There is no talk of postponing this year's Hajj, activities are proceeding as planned

(Patria) - This year's Hajj will not be postponed, nor have any obstacles been recorded in its organization, stated the head of the Hajj and Umrah Office of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dževad Hadžić.

He emphasizes that activities are proceeding according to plan and in constant coordination with the Saudi authorities.

Guesting on Radio BIR, Hadžić said that believers call them almost every day, inquiring about information related to the holding of Hajj this year.

- There are absolutely no indications that anything negative will happen in the organization of Hajj - Hadžić said.

He adds that they are in contact with the authorities of Saudi Arabia, especially with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, and if anything were to happen, they will signal it in time and suggest what needs to be done.

He assessed that a great deal of work has been done so far, which practically began as soon as last year's Hajj ended.

- We are very committed to fulfilling all the requirements that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia sets for us.

In July, we announced the registration for this year's Hajj, and the application period was between August 10 and 30. When people applied, we had over 3,200 applications for this year's Hajj.

We can only accommodate 2,222, including those who organize the Hajj, guides, medical team, media, etc.

So, people applied this year, as they did last year, through the link we posted on our website www.hadziumra.ba - said Hadžić.

He pointed out that the guides have been in contact with their pilgrims for a long time, and each of them had the obligation to contact every member of their group, talk to them, and later form a group through which they send information to the pilgrims about everything that is important for their journey.

- One of the novelties in this year's Hajj is that we have developed an application for Hajj and Umrah where pilgrims will have absolutely all the information in that application, and, very importantly, each guide will be able to locate and find any of their pilgrims who get lost during Hajj at any time through this application - said Hadžić.

He notes that they try to introduce something new in the organization of Hajj every year.

He adds that this year, 47 guides, 6 religious consultants, 14 people from the medical team, 7 doctors and 7 medical technicians, and two from the media team have been engaged.

Finally, he added that everything has been finalized regarding the departure itself, and the first group of pilgrims travels on May 16, and the last on May 21 this year.

Departures will be in two flights per day, one day there will be three flights, and in six days all pilgrims will be transferred from Sarajevo to Mecca.
