Hadžić: The highway will contribute to the economic development of BiH

Vjekoslav Bevanda, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, who together with Ensad Karić, Director of the FBiH Motorways, and Damir Hadžić, Minister of Transport and Communications of BiH, will open a 10 km section of the highway, said that today he is exceptionally joyful because there was a lot of skepticism about this section, reports a reporter for the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- The completion of this section, I hope, will be the beginning of the construction of the Adriatic-Ionian road, which makes me extremely happy and optimistic. In general, whenever it comes to such projects in BiH, I am joyful - said Bevanda.

Damir Hadžić said that the opening of this highway means a lot not only for the local community but for the whole of BiH.

- Also, you know that we, as the government, have secured 150 km of the Adriatic-Ionian road through BiH, which will contribute to the economic development of BiH - said Hadžić.

The modern highway from the Međugorje interchange to the Bijača International Border Crossing is a key infrastructural prerequisite for the full realization of the economy, and especially the tourist potential of southern Herzegovina.

Ten kilometers of the southern part of Corridor Vc are connected to the European road network via the neighboring Republic of Croatia, which will have multiple significance for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes Patria.

The ceremony for the opening of the highway section from Međugorje to Bijača began with the intonation of the BiH anthem, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The Prime Minister of the FBiH, Nermin Nikšić, said that he is proud of what domestic companies have done.

- It has shown what it means when our companies and our intelligence take over the work. Our people can do whatever they want. It was enough for some to view this country as a colony; when you see these viaducts, these bridges, tunnels, you see what can be done when we are united - said Nikšić.

He also announced that in about twenty days, the Tarčin – Vlakovo section will be opened.

- We will prove that we made a promise three years ago and fulfilled it, and that is 105 km. At that time, we said we would build more highway than all previous governments. If we get the chance, in the next four years we are ready to build another 90 km, and connect Međugorje with Počitelj - said Nikšić.
