Hadžibegić: BiH Football Association faces FIFA and UEFA sanctions

FTV journalists were denied accreditation to attend the Electoral Assembly of the BiH Football Association held today, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

The Steering Committee of the BH Journalists Association also reacted, calling for a boycott by other journalists and warning the Association's leadership that FIFA would be informed about this.

- The ban on FTV covering a public event organized by the BiH Football Association represents a gross violation of the right to freedom of information and access to an event of public importance. This procedure is also discrimination against FTV journalists compared to other media outlets and speaks to the unprofessional conduct of the Football Association's leadership - it was stated.

Faruk Hadžibegić, a prominent sports expert, warned that such behavior leads to the blockade of the BiH Football Association and expressed fears that the Association could face worse sanctions than when the Normalization Committee, of which he was a member, was introduced.

Hadžibegić told Patria in a statement that he would not attend the Electoral Assembly today because there was no logic in doing so and he could not give credibility to something that was illegal.

- We are entering a major crisis, and there is a great danger from what UEFA and FIFA will say about the events in the BiH Football Association. They currently think that everything is fine with us, but it is far from it. It is unprecedented to deny journalists the right to work, because those who have nothing to hide should not be afraid to speak in front of the cameras. And if journalists speak untruths, there is a procedure for that, but preventing someone from working is scandalous - said Hadžibegić.

The session of the General Assembly of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina is scheduled for 11:00 AM at the "Terme" hotel in Ilidža.

The agenda includes the election of the Assembly's working bodies, the election of the honorary president, the election of members of the Executive Board and their deputies, and the election of the president, the first vice-president, and the second vice-president.
