Hadžibajrić applied for 'white bread' payment for a year

(Patria) - Former mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, has applied for 'white bread' payment, confirmed Seid Škaljić, president of the Municipal Council of Stari Grad.

"Yesterday, an application for 'white bread' was submitted to the protocol of the Municipality of Stari Grad from a law firm. The application requests payment for a period of one year and to receive an amount equal to the monthly salary he had while in public office. Current legal regulations allow this for Hadžibajrić. The legislator did not address the case of whether a mayor who has been recalled is entitled to 'white bread'," said Škaljić.

Hadžibajrić was arrested in early May as part of the "Start" operation and is charged with organized crime. He was removed from the position of mayor on July 23 in a referendum, where the municipality's residents voted for Hadžibajrić's dismissal by a majority of votes. His associate Alma Destanović, the Municipal Secretary, was released from custody and is under house arrest, while Hadžibajrić remains in custody.

His son, Seid Hadžibajrić, was also arrested as part of a wider operation.
