Hadžibajrić rewarded seven students, recipients of gold and silver badges

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad, M.Sc. Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, hosted today the best students from this municipality, recipients of gold and silver badges of the University of Sarajevo in the academic year 2019/20. Seven students from the Faculties of Philosophy, Pedagogy, Electrical Engineering, Economics, and Natural Sciences and Mathematics were rewarded for their effort, work, and achieved success, and the fact that some of them are already gaining their first work experience is encouraging. They are not considering leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina, which they confirmed during today's reception.

In addition to recognition, Mayor Hadžibajrić presented the students with monetary awards, and as he pointed out, this is just a small sign that their effort and work are valued, and that support for young people are not just empty phrases.

"Today we gathered seven of the best students from the municipality of Stari Grad. One student is a recipient of the gold badge, and the others received silver badges. I asked them if they wanted to leave BiH and none of them said they did, which truly makes me happy. From talking with them, I learned that some of them are already employed, and that is proof that there is room for employing young people and for them to stay in this country. We need more positive stories like these," said Hadžibajrić.

He told the students that the doors of the Municipality are open to them for any help and support they may need.

Support for young people is also reflected in scholarships for pupils and students, and it was announced that this year the Municipality of Stari Grad will allocate significant funds for these purposes and provide scholarships to more than 300 individuals. In addition, the application procedure is nearing completion, according to which, for the first time this year, scholarships will also be awarded to gifted athletes.

"On an annual basis, we allocate over 300,000 KM for these purposes, and I wish we could provide scholarships to more students who are learning old and deficit trades. Unfortunately, this year only six students applied to learn trades because there is no interest. We would provide scholarships to many more if young people wanted to learn trades," said Hadžibajrić.
 
Nudžejma Durmišević is a recipient of the gold badge of the University of Sarajevo. "I completed the first and second cycles at the Faculty of Philosophy, majoring in English Language and Literature and a master's degree in Literature. This support is one of the elements in my entire educational process. I owe the greatest gratitude for this success to my parents and all other spiritual teachers; they taught me to do everything I do with complete dedication. Precisely for this reason, this significant recognition was not difficult to achieve, and it represents another step forward," said Nudžejma.

Abdurahim Kalajdžić is a recipient of the silver badge, and he completed the first and second cycles at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, majoring in Genetics.

"I am currently employed at the Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Sarajevo. I want to sincerely thank Mayor Hadžibajrić, who today took his time and financial resources to reward us for our success. I believe that students and young people should constantly seek motivation, not wait for someone else to give it to them. My advice to current and future students is to seek and find motivation themselves to do what they love and what fulfills them," said Abdurahim.

Among the successful students at today's reception was Amila Jakubović, who completed the first and second cycles at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, majoring in Automation and Electronics.

"In the second cycle of studies, I had an average of 10.00, but overall with the first cycle, I received the silver badge of the University of Sarajevo. It is very important that government representatives, in our case the Municipality of Stari Grad led by Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, affirm positive things in society. This is an excellent indicator for the youth of this country that it is indeed possible to succeed here if one truly wants to. I myself am a witness to the departure of a large number of my colleagues, mostly to Central European countries. I had a concrete offer to work in Vienna, but I did not want to, because I believe that it is possible to succeed here and thus build a better society," said Amila.

The following received awards today:

Nudžejma Durmišević (Faculty of Philosophy) - recipient of the "Gold Badge" award, and Ermina Ribić (Faculty of Philosophy), Timur Vilić (Faculty of Philosophy), Nejra Hadžić (Faculty of Pedagogy), Lamija Krndžija (Faculty of Economics), Amila Jakubović (Faculty of Electrical Engineering), and Abdurahim Kalajdžić (Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics) - recipients of the "Silver Badge" award.

The reception for the students was organized by the municipal Service for Education, Culture and Sport, in order to reward the success and top results achieved by students during their studies, and to motivate them for even better work in the future.
