Traffic jams on Bjelašnica should be a thing of the past from this year

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Traffic jams on Bjelašnica, especially at Babin Dol, which previously left a bad memory for visitors to this Olympic mountain, should from this winter season be
a thing of the past.

With the construction of the connecting road Hotel Maršal - Donja Grkarica, conditions have been created for traffic on Bjelašnica to flow one-way from Gornja Grkarica, Babin Dol to Donja Grkarica, according to a statement from the Press Center for the Promotion of Olympic Mountains.

The total length of the connecting road is about 2,200 meters. This will avoid congestion in the very center of the Olympic mountain, especially on weekends and holidays.

Given that work is also underway on the construction of an underground garage with a capacity of 100 spaces, significantly better conditions should be expected during this ski season on Bjelašnica.

Incidentally, the mentioned road connects two regional roads, namely Gornja Grkarica - Pendičići and Gornja Grkarica - Šabići - Sinanovići - Argud.

Truck traffic will also be directed along the route Hotel - Maršal - Donja Grkarica - Gornja Grkarica and vice versa, which will further facilitate traffic.

The contractor for this road is MGBH d.o.o Sarajevo, and supervision is carried out by the Institute for Construction of Sarajevo Canton. Total investments for these purposes during 2019 amount to about 910,000.00 KM.

Incidentally, in the area of Trnovo this year, work is being done on more than ten projects with a total value of three million KM.

The Municipality of Trnovo confirmed that they are finalizing the activities planned for this year, and that in good cooperation with higher levels of government, they will manage to achieve what we did not have in previous years when it comes to preparation for the winter season.

Minister of Traffic of Sarajevo Canton Adnan Šteta, during a recent visit, stated that a lot has been done, but even more will be done by the end of this construction season when it comes to the municipality of Trnovo.
