Traffic jams on return from mountains and at border crossings

(Patria) - In addition to traffic jams on the return from local picnic spots, large traffic jams have also been constantly recorded at the border crossings in the north of our country in recent days. Today, a column of vehicles was recorded on the Bjelašnica-Sarajevo road.

There are long columns of vehicles at the exit from Bosnia and Herzegovina at the border crossings: Izačić, Velika Kladuša, Novi Grad, Kostajnica, Kozarska Dubica, Gradina, Gradiška, Brod, Svilaj, and Orašje. Waiting times are several hours. At other border crossings, passenger vehicle traffic proceeds with delays of up to 30 minutes. The biggest traffic jam is at the Gradiška crossing, and users on social networks write that this is the case every Friday and Sunday.

Due to winter driving conditions in the Republic of Croatia, a ban on traffic for trucks with trailers and semi-trailers is in effect at the Izačić border crossing.

Due to snowfall and landslides on the main road Plužine-Šćepan Polje (CG), traffic is difficult, proceeding in one lane, and is allowed exclusively for passenger vehicles. Traffic is prohibited for trucks. Drivers are advised to avoid the Hum-Šćepan Polje border crossing until weather conditions improve.

A ban on traffic for heavy motor vehicles is in effect on the Resanovci-Drvar and Bosansko Grahovo-Strmica road sections.

Frequent reports of fallen trees on the road have been received on the M-18 Srednje-Olovo-Kladanj main road. Road services are responding to every report and are working to quickly remove obstacles and normalize traffic. In most parts of the country, traffic is difficult and slow. At most mountain passes, there is packed or slushy snow, while low temperatures cause ice, which further complicates traffic. 

On the Jablanica-Blidinje main road, traffic is allowed for vehicles up to 3.5 tons, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tons is still suspended.

Due to the registration of passengers under the new European Union entry and exit system (EES, Entry/Exit System), longer delays at border crossings are possible.

The Brčko border crossing is open for passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons. From December 2, 2025, the Karakaj border crossing will be open for all categories of vehicles. Traffic is prohibited for all trucks at the Šepak border crossing.
